If you really want to extend your diving limits and take your diving to another level, then it’s time to get technical. The PADI Tec 40 course teaches you all the theory and skills that will enable you to transition from a recreational scuba diver to a technical diver.
The PADI Tec 40 course is a subdivision of the full PADI tec Diver course and this section will give you the knowledge that fills the gap between no stop diving and full technical deep decompression diving.
By gaining the PADI Tec 40 certificate, you will qualify to make limited decompression dives to 40 metres/130 feet.
To enroll in the Tec 40 course, you must be:
- A PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
- A PADI Enriched Air Diver with at least 10 dives using enriched air deeper than 18 metres/60 feet
- A PADI Deep Diver or proof of at least 10 dives to 30 metres/100 feet
- At least 18 years old and have a minimum of 30 logged dives
- You also need to have a Medical Statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months.
- 25% deposit will be taken on booking (cancellation policy), full payment will be required on morning of activity.

The course is made up of the following:
- 3 knowledge development sections
- 3 practical application sessions
- 4 training dives
During the course, you’ll learn about:
- The risks and responsibilities of technical diving
- Technical diving equipment, proper rigging and how to set up you scuba gear
- Gas planning, oxygen limits and decompression planning
- Team diving techniques and emergency procedures
- As well as your basic scuba equipment, you’ll add technical equipment. In most cases this means you’ll double up on you gear.
- You may dive on backmounted or sidemounted cylinders.
- Your may dive with EANx for additional conservatism.
- You’ will also need a pocket mask to practice in-water resuscitation, this will be provided for you.
- During exercises, you’ll work with an oxygen unit, floats, marker buoys and CPR mannequins, all of which will be provided.
- All equipment is available to hire for free. Some equipment, for example underwater cameras, will incur an extra charge unless it is required as part of your specialty.
- You’re welcome to use your own equipment but most importantly, please make sure it’s been serviced as and when required. If we see equipment that we do not feel is safe or adequate, we reserve the right to ask you to leave it behind and provide you with a suitable replacement.
- We have a huge range of scuba diving and snorkeling products to buy online. These can either be delivered to you or you can pick them up from here when you arrive.
